The horrible news from London yesterday has turned out to be somewhat better than was reported the first few hours. While any loss of life is unacceptable, it could have been far, far worse.

The best news is how the Brits have responded, so far. There's a collective memory there that, no doubt, has its roots in the Blitz and latter-day IRA bombings. Of all the major "free" cities in the World, outside Israel, London is the most attacked so these bombings would never have had the same effect as bombings in other cities. From all outward signs, everything started to get back to "normal" almost immediately. That's the best news of all.
