IT'S NOT WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE EXPECTED

JD Power Associates, the quality gurus, have just released their annual "long-term" quality survey of auto reliability. It focuses on those who have owned a car for three years, so it's really a report on the 2002 model year cars and how they've performed since new.

The winner (no surprise) was Lexus, but you've got to read the report to see who came in 2nd through 6th, ahead of Toyota, who came in 7th!! Ouch.

And, depressing for the Euros is the atrocious results of all European brands, except BMW.

HOWEVER, at the same time, Power released their most recent "initial" quality survey of new cars and the finishing order is very different. You can draw your own conclusions from comparing the two lists.
