HELP THE ENVIRONMENT -- DRIVE A GAS GUZZLER

We all learned in our first science class that animals take in oxygen and give off carbon dioxide. Plants do the opposite. Probably the best example of symbiosis that exists.

But we've also been told -- over and over and over again -- that (even though noxious pollutants can be removed) automobile exhaust contains millions of tons of carbon dioxide and that's a bad thing because it contributes to the "greenhouse" phenomenon (a concept you can read about until your eyes bleed and still not find unanimity of opinion). Right? Right???

Some scientists are now suggesting that what some of us learned a few decades ago is still good science.

OK -- maybe it would be a bad idea (for different reasons) for everyone to drive a Hummer, but at least now you can expunge all that guilt.
