Well, he didn't actually win anything, but Howard Dean did come in first amongst the "nine dwarfs" in an online vote-in for folks who chose their favorite Democratic candidate. It was conducted by the PAC, who stated they would endorse (translation: contribute to their campaign) any candidate who got over 50% of the vote.

What is astounding to me is that Dennis Kucinich came in 2nd. I've seen Dennis here in Cleveland, up close and personal -- first, when he was a city councilman 30 years ago and today, when he's in Washington as a Congressman, acting as loony as ever. He has a well-earned nickname -- "Dennis the Menace". And he didn't earn it because he's a cute little blond boy with a cowlick.

What's even more astounding is over 50% said they'd support Carol Mosely Braun if she won the nomination. THAT IS SCARY. What that says is they would accept a person randomly selected from the phonebook over G.W. Bush.

And Joe Lieberman, our Senator when we lived in Connecticut, got less than 2% of the vote. I guess Joe just isn't liberal enough.

If I were a Democrat, I'd be saving my powder for 2008. 2004 looks like trouble, with a capital "T".
